Manufacturing of water treatment complex for Ekibastuz GRES-1 (photo report)

img_2885_resize.jpg (regular, 500x375)In 2012, Jurby WaterTech International entered into agreement for performance of works on “Reconstruction and modernization of water treatment plants for needs of Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov”. The point is that rebuilding of boilers at GRES-1 involves the necessity of improving the quality of water as related to the main parameters: electrical conductivity and content of Na and SiO2. Currently, the works on manufacturing and assembly of equipment included in the water treatment complex for Ekibastuz GRES-1 are well under way at the own manufacturing facilities of Jurby WaterTech International in Kaunas (Lithuania, the EU). About project

The choice of technology able to take into account the requirements for maximum level of automation of technological processes, continuous rise in prices for chemicals and ion-exchange materials, successive increase of the salt content in raw water, as well as, to provide the low-cost production of demineralised water is the key point in retrofitting of existing equipment. The result of joint efforts of technical specialists of Ekibastuz GRES-1 and Jurby WaterTech International’s experts was the choice of the membrane water treatment technologies that will allow take all stated requirements into consideration.

When choosing the technology, Jurby WaterTech International was guided by the previous successful practices in reconstruction and construction of water treatment plants at such objects as TPP-9, Subsidiary of OAO Mosenergo, Shaturskaya GRES and Surgutskaya GRES.  

Taking due account of specific features of the design, technical experts of Jurby WaterTech International have developed the following process flow diagrams:

•             coagulation of river water in reconstructed clarifiers: mechanical filtration - ultrafiltration- reverse osmosis, stages I and II – electrodeionization (for make up of boilers, capacity of 400 m3/h);

•             water intake from clarified water tanks (after ultrafiltration) – a single-stage counter-current softening plant according to technology similar to «UPCORE» technology (for makeup of heat network, capacity of 50 m3/h and for makeup of start boilers, capacity of 50 m3/h);

•             water intake from clarified water tanks (after ultrafiltration) – decontamination (for portable water supply, capacity of 50 m3/h).

The project “Reconstruction and modernization of water treatment plants for needs of Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov” is modern and unique in terms of its technological efficiency and low cost production of demineralised water under conditions of successive increase of the salt content in raw water.
